Dark Souls 2 Details Discuss Dual Wielding, Game Length

A list of some changes or additions to Dark Souls 2.

A lot of information regarding Dark Souls 2 still remains in question. In an interview with Dark Souls 2 director, Yui Tanimura, he answered a lot of questions regarding story and magic dismissively. Most of his answered urged that fans wait for future announcements but he did reveal a bit of new information.

From the interview on NerdReactor, I pulled a few key points that Dark Souls 2 fans might find interesting.

  • Dark Souls 2 is 60% completed
  • 58% more people are working on creating environments
  • With the addition of dual wielding, the team used motion capture for the animations.
  • New combos to improve the combat
  • You can now aim your bow and move simultaneously
  • Dark Souls 2 will make connections to the story and characters of previous games
  • Dark Souls 2 should take a bit longer to complete than first Dark Souls
  • Expect variations in magic categories
  • Dark Souls 2 will implement servers for the PTP online

As for the specifics, Tanimura did not provide many details outside of what you can see in gameplay videos. Developers on Dark Souls 2 will hold the answers questions such as to the consequences of death, changes to magic and plot details, for a later date.

Dark Souls 2 will launch in March 2014 on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
