Free alpha version to be released this summer.
As if Capcom itself wasn’t remaking enough of its titles, Italian independent developer InvaderGames has taken it upon itself to remake Resident Evil 2 using Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 4.
Dubbed Resident Evil 2 Reborn, the fan-made remake sports updated 3D models, particle effects, a lighting system, new gameplay, a new health system, new textures, new scripts, new sound effects, a new soundtrack, new animations, and more. Check it all out in the two gameplay videos below featuring the game in its alpha state.
Resident Evil 2 was originally released in 1998 for the PlayStation 1 and subsequently ported to the Nintendo 64, Sega Dreamcast, Nintendo Gamecube, and other platforms. It takes place two months after the events of Resident Evil 1 and stars Leon S. Kennedy, who later starred in Resident Evil 4, and Claire Redfield.
Currently, Capcom is working on a remade version of Resident Evil 0 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC. It will be released in early 2016. Recently, the Japanese developer shared a video comparing three versions of Resident Evil 0: the Nintendo 64 prototype, the original release, and the HD remake.
InvaderGames plans to release Resident Evil 2 Reborn in its alpha state for PC this summer.
