Mobile games often have a lot of different currencies for exchanging items, unlocking extra features, and for gacha games, chances to pull for weapons and characters. Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis follows a similar formula. Thankfully, it's not as bad as other games as free-to-play players are not going to be gated or paywalled from enjoying what the game has to offer. Although it should be expected that players who have money to burn will enjoy distinct perks and advantages over the F2P (free-to-play) ones. Nevertheless, the game doesn't have a PvP mode so there shouldn't be any complaints about "pay to win" or unfair advantages.
Two of the most prominent currencies of the game are blue and red crystals. In this article, we will discuss their various uses and some reliable methods of farming them.
Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis: How to get Blue and Red Crystals
Introduction
These two types of crystals that you can keep track of in the top portion of the menu, along the same row where you can find your player LV, stamina, inventory icon, and the menu icon.
The Red Crystals is the premium currency in the game that you can only obtain by outright purchasing them while Blue Crystals is the "freemium" counterpart. There are some features where the two can be used interchangeably like in Draws (gacha) or expanding chocobo expedition slots, inventory slots, or synthesis slots - to name a few. Between the two, F2P (free-to-play) players can reliably farm and earn Blue Crystals. As of this article's writing, there's no free or unpaid method of getting Red Crystals.
Red Crystals
As mentioned above, red crystals can only be purchased using real money through the in-game shop. The amount of red crystals you'll get will be proportionate to what you spend. The game has a lot of packs to choose from, which could include some materials and consumables that you can farm within the game. These special packs can only be purchased in limited weekly amounts only. You can also buy red crystals only if you wish.
Red Crystals Uses
The most popular use of red crystals is through the Special Draw pulls. This gacha category only accepts red crystals and guarantees a 5-star weapon within a 10-pull. Depending on the banner as well, you might be able to do one 10-pull or up to three 10-pulls. This is the quickest method of obtaining one of the featured 5-star weapons without relying too much on your luck.
You can also use red crystals to purchase character Memories from the in-game shop though it's not a great use of this valuable resource in my opinion. You can also get a Monthly Legendary Pack for 5000 Crystals that contains a 5-star weapon voucher, x20 Draw Tickets, x15 Mithril Ore, and x20 Grindstone Chunks. Even if you compare it to the special draw, it doesn't seem to be a good deal as well in my opinion since the Grindstone Chunks can be farmed and the draw tickets doesn't guarantee any good quality weapon within 20 pulls (unless you're extremely lucky).
Blue Crystals
As a freemium currency, blue crystals are significantly easier to obtain, collect, and have more uses compared to the red crystals. Aside from the uses we've mentioned above, some features like unlocking additional slots or spaces can be done with blue crystals as well. You can also use blue crystals for pulling weapons in the Featured Draw category. Sure you can use red crystals here as well but why not spend first the currency that you earn for free?
Blue Crystals Sources
Blue crystals can be earned from multiple sources and we will list down some of them here.
Login Bonuses
Login bonuses is a standard feature for many gacha games as they encourage players to play the game or at least log in once a day, every day. Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis has a similar system and at the moment, they're giving away blue crystals daily as login reward. The amount of blue crystals that you'll receive from login rewards might be different in future updates but you'll still receive them one way or another using this method.
Missions
You can earn blue crystals by completing daily and weekly missions, as well as clearing specific Campaign or General tasks. After earning them, don't forget to accept your crystals from the Gifts button on the right side of the Home screen.
Ad Rewards
In the Home Screen, you'll find the Ad Reward icon in the bottom-right corner. Here, you can watch up to two timed ads and get 50 blue crystals for each ad. The ads you can view will reset daily as part of the daily scheduled content reset.
Season Pass
Season Passes can be a great source of additional rewards by incentivizing players that play the game regularly. Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis has a similar system called the Treasure Hunt. You'll earn "steps" for completing various daily and one-time tasks. Earning 7 steps will increase your Treasure Hunt level, allowing you to obtain the corresponding rewards for that level. You'll earn blue crystals in LV5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 up to LV29. Of course you'll earn more blue crystals from this method if you have purchased the premium season pass worth 20USD.
Story Mode
In Story Mode, you can play using characters pertinent to the story or you can switch to the Free Party option where you can use any character you like. Sticking with story characters will allow you to earn bonus rewards, including blue crystals.
Solo Quests
Clearing a Solo Quest stage at least once will yield blue crystals as a bonus.
Co-op Battles
Co-op quests allow you to play with other players to tackle stronger enemies. Each enemy has difficulty levels that will allow you to earn blue crystals for defeating them at least once for that difficulty. The enemies in this mode are "reset" after a set period of days, allowing you to earn blue crystals again for defeating them at least once in each difficulty.
Events
Limited events will usually have a similar structure as the solo quests, with varying difficulties and stages. Some stages in limited events will also allow you to earn blue crystals for clearing them at least once.
